Gallery of town Trutnov

Krkonoše Mountains

The Municipal Gallery on Slovanské náměstí (Slavic Square) was opened in early 1997 after extensive renovation of historically protected townhouses from the second half of the 16th century.

The building has retained its original structure dating from the Renaissance with later building interventions, made mainly after the fire of 1799, which heavily damaged the building. In the mid-19th century, there were other significant modifications to the house. A brick porch was added on the south side, which is very unusual for Trutnov. In the attic room gallery vernissages and cultural programs are held and there is a permanent exhibition space on the floor below. The pride of the gallery is the 1937 painting In the Pink Room (V růžové světnici) by Josef Čapek, Otto Gutfreund sculptures and a collection of works of art that captures the development of regional and Czech art.
