Krkonoše Mountains
The caves are located to the side of the most visited places in the Krkonoše Mountains. They are known as the largest karst formation in the mountains. There are two karst formations: Hornoalbeřická and Krakonoš Cave. The Hornoalbeřická cave is more than 100 metres long and via the main corridor we come up to the surface groundwater. A considerable number of oblique chimneys lead from the main passage. The Krakonoš Cave is also about 100 metres long.
Remains of lime and minor example of an underground karst are preserved in the Albeřické quarries. On the site there are species of rare calcicolous plants, for example tuberose saffron, grass of Parnassus, frog orchids and rare animals, especially bats (Daubenton's bat, greater mouse-eared bat, lesser horseshoe bat).
